SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES
It's October (I know, I can't believe it either), which means Thanksgiving (for us Canadians), Halloween, crunchy red leaves, cozy layers, multiple trips to Starbucks, and fall coloured nails. Can you tell that autumn is my favourite time of year? But before I get ahead of myself I've wrangled up a few of my favourites from September. Enjoy.
Of my favourites there are some that are directly fall related and others that are wonderful at any time of the year. Of course, an amazingly soft tartan plaid blanket scarf screams autumn like nothing else. I found this scarf at Garage. Despite their demographic being targeted to teenage girls, I actually have a lot of luck there.
Another fall item is a delicious smelling candle, sweater weather, from Bath&BodyWorks. This particular candle is described as a blend of eucalyptus, juniper berry, and fresh sage. It is sweet yet clean at the same time making it the perfect scent for my home where I prefer warm, sweet smells and my boyfriend likes clean, crisp scents.
Yes, I jumped on the Kylie Jenner lip trend band wagon and tried, for the first time, a NYX matte lipstick. I have to say this won't be my last purchase of this formula. I'm already researching which colour to buy next. Originally, I hoped to buy this lipstick in the shade Whipped Caviar, but NYX seems like a particularly difficult brand to get a hold of in Canada. I managed to find a more expansive range of their products at my universities pharmacy of all places and while they had a tester for Whipped Caviar, unfortunately, there was none left in stock. While I contemplated just paying for the tester (don't judge me, I know you've thought of it too) I did my best exploring the other shades and stumbled upon the colour Natural, which has a touch more pink than Whipped Caviar. To give you an idea Natural is described as a mauve on NYX's website while Whipped Caviar is said to be a muted plum. Though i'm not disappointed with my purchase at all, obviously it made it's way into my favourites, I'll still be on the hunt for Whipped Caviar. How many times can I say Whipped Caviar in a post?
While standing in the dreaded but wonderful checkout at Sephora I decided to try a mini size of the Caudalie beauty elixir, a product i've always had my eye on but never wanted to take the plunge because of its price tag. This product claims to smooth lines, tighten pores, and give radiance to the complexion. After close to three weeks of using it I can't say that I've noticed a massive change in my skin, however, the scent reminds me an expensive spa and the refreshing feeling I get each time I spritz it gives me a bit of energy.
Another product i've been eyeing up for quite some time is Becca's Shimmering Skin Perfector in the shade Opal. I'll be honest, i'm a highlighter junkie. I really didn't need to buy this. For most, this gold pearly shade would be a very bold, far too shimmery option for everyday. But I say embrace it and hit the tops of my cheekbones with this baby nearly every morning.
Lastly, I've been reading Sophia Amoruso's #Girlboss for about two weeks now. I love the mix of humorous stories from her past with a little motivational pep talk thrown in. It's the type of read i'm needing right now to keep me going with my own tasks but it's written in such a way that feels less like a lecture about productivity and more like a friend nudging you to keep going.
Let me know what products have made it on your favourite list this month.
